Thanks, Tracy! As far as asking people to wear hats, just be direct and polite in the way that you word it, and be clear: something along the lines of "Please wear a hat for this lovely/special occasion," or something like that. To be honest, you don't want to be too cryptic or too clever with your wording, because then guests might think it's optional, when in fact, the bride for whom you're throwing the party seems to really want all the guests to wear hats. By stating the request politely and directly, all invited guests will make the effort of finding and wearing hats for the shower (at my friend's party, no guest showed up without a hat, and I believe that's because the invitation was clear about the request from the get go :) ) I wish your friend the best of luck, and I hope you have lots of fun with the shower!

I am giving a bridal shower next month and putting the invitations together now. The bride would like everyone to wear hats so I am trying to figure out a clever way to incorporate it into the invitation. While everyone may not do so, I would like to encourage it. Any suggestions?

BTW - you all look fabulous!

I totally enjoyed this! Pretty hilarious and incisive!!

But i must say this kinda makes you the "manner-policer"...are you ready for that? The truth is most of us have committed some if not all of these at times...People do have different boundaries, expectations, etc, etc associated with their facebook identity. Think about it...before you join, you get dozens of friends requesting you to join every week...when you do join...people write stuff on your walls all the time and if you actually hate facebook or only use it to keep up with your friends' lives but you are actually a private person...then you don't want to be forced to manage other people's expectations...So i think the best way to deal with this is just be chill...accept that you have friends with all kinds of personalities and quirks and it's OKAY!!They make the world a funny place! =)

I have to laugh when I hear you say 2nd or 3rd day hair... Only us curly girls would understand this!

Anyway, I will have to try this out! Right now I use BedHead's Foxy Curls, which I'm pretty happy with, but like you said, always looking for something new :)

Thanks for this in-depth review. We've all heard what it's not, but it's great that you've detailed what the Kindle Fire can do. Mine is in the mail and I'm especially anxious to use it for cooking!

Unfortunately, the Kindle Fire is wifi-only!! Lol :) you can access your content outside wifi by taking it off your "cloud" and putting it onto your device, which is simple and can be done on the device itself, but you can't for example, do Internet browsing while you're on a road trip outside a wifi network. Yes, I find the iPad to be really pricey, and if you get it with 3G, the price becomes astronomical...

I'm glad you wrote this post - I've been wanting a tablet but can't decide on one, and also agree that the iPad is too expensive (given the cost of a laptop these days!). I'll have to seriously consider the kindle fire (i thought it was just like the old kindle, i didn't realize it was a full tablet) - the only thing I want is for sure is a built in 3G so I don't have to connect to a wi-fi network to get internet. :)
